A little look around

The caravan managed to stand up to the stormy weather on Sunday, it was tested though with the biggest gusts of wind I think either of us has ever seen, however after a very brief visit to the village hall on Sunday we returned to the van to find that the awning had taken all it could. Ah well, it was good while it lasted! Ian managed to get a quick snap of it on his phone as we did a bit of damage limitation, which we’ll post in a couple of day’s time.

Everyone emerged on Monday to much brighter weather and higher spirits, and with some very much appreciated help from Georgie we tidied up some of the 3 bags of balast that burst onto the roads of Rum during the delivery to site on Saturday. After the hard work we headed off to the shop to collect our veggies and have a beer in celebration of Rum’s No.1 most popular Ranger, Mike’s birthday!

Tuesday has brought some more very pleasant weather, which has allowed Ian to get out on the digger and get some drainage trenches put in. Perforated pipe has been laid and we’ve been busy back filling with some of the broken old bricks from the demolished coal shed. And since we have no exciting new pictures of site to share we thought we’d share a few random ones taken this morning  to help everyone get a feel of our new home…starting with the view of the village hall from the low road.

A lucky view from the road of a stag having his lunch…

Today’s view of Loch Scresort and the old red phone box…

Rum’s new camping cabins…

Rum’s new pier waiting room and infor boards…

And Rum Craft shop…

So that’s it for now, it’s back to work while the sun still shines!
